All of a sudden the new project function opens with an expanded view of the next menu causing the accept/next button to be invisible off screen. Actually all sub windows open like this, unusable. See second screenshot.

Possible triggered by a windows update? Uninstall and reinstall of Magix did not help. It looks like windows within the main program UI are being rendered with a scale factor of several times the size of the display space allotted to them.

Dell XPS15 running Win10 Pro 10.0.19045 Build 19045 on a Intel i7 9750H

Anyone seen something like this before?

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

I have the same version of the program with Windows 10 and not had this problem although trying to make a second monitor show a separate full screen view can cause undesirable consequences such as the programs windows being thrown off screen. That function is strictly for use with third monitor. It can also be at that stage very difficult to undo if pressing f9 does not work at resetting the program view back to the program's default view.

Thanks for the info. I would assume that uninstalling would clear out any settings for display structure, but that did not seem to work. Does anyone know if there is any display related data that would not get cleared by a reinstall hidden somewhere?

Did you try pressing f9?

If that did not work.

Not all files are cleared with an uninstal and previous settings can be 'remembered' upon re-installing. You would need to use a specialist uninstal program such as Revo uninstaller to track down all components.

I did try f9 with no joy. I was suspicious of the windows update so I rolled back the update, amazing all is well!

Update then reports that 2025-3 is waiting to be installed so to make sure that the issue was update related I reinstalled the update. Surprise everything is still working fine.

So bottom line seems to be that the first time it did the update something went wrong and chaos ensued. This update is supposed to be just security updates, but who knows.

Anyway, thanks all who spent brain power thinking about this and since this was an update released yesterday, watch out for the wierd display problems if you are doing that update. Maybe it is prone to not install correclty. On the other hand maybe it was just a fluke with my machine. I quess windows is always a crap shoot.

In my experience Windows updates, especially to Windows 10 recently are not just security updates and have caused many an upset to various programs I have used in the past. Glad it's back working for you. Sometimes an update goes wrong because of previous missing updates to things like the NET framework updates.

I have updated to (KB5053606) with no problems so far.
