Craig, could you expand on this? What do you mean by "the group"? Do you have multiple clips butted up together on the timeline or do you have a video+audio object grouped with, for example, a title and image or overlaid video?

A screenshot of your timeline would help.

@AAProds I'm assuming he means a bit like this where there's multiple objects grouped together in some way., because ungrouping just a bit of text, audio or a picture from a single video file is no problem.

Grouping does have a sort of memory, If you group two objects together ungrouping them is no problem. If you group two objects together & then select a third & add it to the group you can do one ungroup, that will remove the last thing grouped but click ungroup again it ungroups everything, video & audio of all.

@AAProds @Gid Yes, I am talking about video clips that are grouped. The top of the picture shows the grouped clips. The bottom is what I get when I try to ungroup just one video. Notice that all the videos turn yellow, with the one I want to separate a darker yelllow (the video is labeled "Cat.....").

@craig-dingle Yeah, not easy to work out from your picture as the bottom image doesn't have any yellow, but I can see you've got some 'Vide/Audio on one track' & some that are not, then when you've ungrouped them it has separated the video from the audio putting the audio on a new track. Sorry I can't add to my earlier comment.

Have you tried holding down the Ctrl Key while selecting only the clips you wish to ungroup?

@CubeAce Howdy. Yep, I did. After reading your comment I went back and tried again. Press CTRL (hold down), mouse click the clip, then click "ungroup"....same thing. I even tried releasing the CTRL key before clicking "ungroup" (of course that didn't work).

Craig, your whole track one is highlighted, meaning you've grouped everything together at some point. I think the only way out is to ungroup the lot, then ungroup the object you want.

Then, go through and regroup all your objects to their partners ie video to audio, but not everything together.

I also suggest, for the future, you display audio and video on separate tracks: File>Settings>Program, Video/Audio tab. It's easier to visualise the grouped objects then.

Craig, you can create the separate audio track on your objects by right-clicking them and choosing audio functions (at least that is what is on the later versions).

To get around this issue, if you don't already know, you can use the mouse modes to make objects to the right stick to a selected object, so if you need to make a hole, close up a gap, in the appropriate mode when you click to drag, all the objects to the right will move with it.
