Movie Edit Pro 16

Paula-crawley wrote on 12/24/2022, 3:49 PM

I purchased the DVD version of this some time ago and it has been running fine on my windows 10 machine. I recently purchased a new windows 11 pro machine, and have created a virtual machine using Hyper-V of another windows 11 pro instance.

Hyper-V does not recognise physical drives in ‘gen 2’ mode and see’s them as only as iso files. I want to install this product on my virtual machine, so I copied the disk contents to a share and then tried to run the setup from the  VM. However, part way through it said it could not read one of the files so stopped the installation.

I then went to your download site and attempted an install from your download section. It successfully installed all the pre-requisites and seemed to install the product ok. I then went to run it and at the point I tried to activate the product using the serial number that came with my disk, the red ‘X’ does not turn to a green tick when I’ve finished, so I am unable to unlock the product. I believe this is the only issue I have and that if I can activate it all will be fine.

Can you tell me how I can active this product please.

@Paula-crawley

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums, so not a contact for any Magix staff, sorry.

You will see I have moved your post to the appropriate area of the forums, Video products, and changed your product name to Movie Studio, which is what Movie Edit Pro is now named.

You say you have MEP 16. Is that its full title or do you mean MEP 2016? Mention of having it on DVD suggests it might be the former, I think, which is now very old!

However, the specific problem you mention is one of activation and registration. The first question to ask is, can your VM connect to the internet in order to access the Magix registration server? If it can, then it may be the case that you have exceeded the maximum number of simultaneous activations of the product listed in your account. To check this you need to go to your Magix account, log in, go to My products and find the listing for your version of MEP. Click on Show more details and check how many activations are listed. Deactivate any you no longer need and log out. Wait a few minutes and try again to activate your products.

If you are unable to resolve the issue this way, for any reason, you will need to email infoservice@magix.net, explain the problem to them and ask for help in resolving it. Just be aware that you may not receive any reply until after the New Year!

Hi

. . . . .I recently purchased a new windows 11 pro machine, and have created a virtual machine using Hyper-V of another windows 11 pro instance. . . . .

To add to @emmrecs comment.

If the program is MEP 16, released in 2010, then you are going to have some issues running this on modern hardware and OS if you can get it activated.

The program is not certified nor supported to run on Windows 11, also it will not be able to use modern PC hardware.

The oldest version of MEP I can get to run 'reasonably well' is MEP 2015, however it cannot take advantage of some PC hardware configurations.
