Mov. file will make PhotoStory crash, no matter what

Jean-Marc-Giroux wrote on 1/17/2022, 11:24 AM

Hi folks.

I'm using the latest version pf PhotoStory Deluxe (21.0.1.96) and spent the last few days watching it crash. Most times it will simply stop responding, other times it will just shut down.

From what I could gather here, the most probable cause is the attempt to insert a .mov file (from Iphone) into the slideshow. I downloaded the Quicktime Alternative codec, still same problem.

Not sure what I should be doing next. If a solution exists, would love to read it, else I guess I will buy a decent converter to MP4...or forget those videos at all (would be a shame).

I work on a Windows 10 PC, have plenty of mem (8G), and power.

Thanks for helping

@Jean-Marc-Giroux

Hi

We need more information:

Computer specification and program version, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full - I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

Are the graphics card drivers up to date?

A screen shot of the Program settings, Display options or Device options tab.

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the MOV clips and post the results, see this tutorial if you are not familiar with MediaInfo   on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip to get the full data that you can post directly into a comment.

Was there any error dialog that popped up when the crash occurred, if so what was the message?

@Jean-Marc-Giroux

Hi

. . . . Error in module "Qt5CoreMx64Qt5.15.1.dll" . . . .

See this solution for the crash issue.

If this does not fix the issue are the Intel HD 5500 drivers up to date? The latest version is 15.40.48.5171 (15.40)

Hi

Sorry for taking so long to get back.

I gave up... somewhat. My guess is that the computer was just devoting all its resources swapping memory. So I purchased a new computer (updated specs in signature). I can now move forward.

My only piece of advice on all this is that the 2gb memory spec stated in the product is grossly underestimated. I had 4gb of free memory on the older machine and PhotoStory was eating all of it.

We can now close this thread. Thanks for the help, much appreciated
