mono recording

i have magix music maker mx, with a steingberg cl1 mixer. when i record,on the right and left signals, only the left picks up and when i switch xlrs only the rightr side plays. then during playback only the left speaker will play the sound. ive brought my equipment over to a music store that sells equipment like this and the guy looked at it for an hour n said it wasnt my mic or mixer, its someting in the program but i cant find it. i want both of the left and right bars to light up wen i speak into the mic..any help would be appreciated.

Hi

Unless you are using a stereo mike you will only get one channel recording unless you can mix the mike channels in the mixer ie add L to R or R to L.

Alternatively - for any mono recorded instrument or mike - you can duplicate the left channel (or right) into the opposite channel in Music Maker and then use the mixer (M key) to position the sound on the sound stage.
