Midistart Keyboard reaction problem

Hi

I'm having a problem with my new bought Miditech Midistart Keyboard.
Its a plug and play keyboard and doesn't need any drivers for Windows Xp Servicepack 2 or higher ( I have Servicepack 1)

When I plug the keyboard to my computer, A popup message tells that I need to install drivers for "Hua Xing" I suppose the computer think its the keyboard.
But what the my computer should have done was just to react on the keyboard and don't come up with this pop up.

When I open up my music editing program (pro-tools) then it can't find any midi devices, no matter what I do.

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that on some computers, the Midistart keyboards reacts as a USB and not a Midi, I think that is the problem.

Can anyone help me? Please!

Hi,
The problem is that you do need drivers - ProTools (which is what I use) does not care if it's USB or standard 5-pin MIDI.

Hua Xing is really what your keyboard is (it's the chipset) and you need the driver for it. A quick search on Bing will give you some drivers for your keyboard.

Once installed, go set your MIDI controller in ProTools.

Just a few words in addition to what Justin said:

What you described is perfectly OK behavior. The notifier that comes up does in fact inform you about the successful detection of the device. Under Windows XP this should be plug & play. So, any problem detecting the keyboard in your sequencer software might require a closer look.

You stated that the keyboard calls for Windows XP SP2. You also stated that you're running SP1. See anything wrong with that picture? Personally, I don't really think that's the main problem here, but it might be a potential problem. There's almost no good reason not to be at least in SP2 for XP at this point in time.

Also check and see whether you have any other USB devices connected that might interfere with the proper detection of and communication with the MIDI keyboard. Logitech webcams are known troublemakers for that. Definitely disconnect that stuff when using the keyboard.

Ultimately, you can check out the website of the keyboard manufacturer and see whether you find any help there:

Additional drivers are also available in the downloads section, but, as stated above, shouldn't be necessary for a Win XP system.

Hi,
Despite it saying you don't need drivers almost always you do for these. This has been brought up here before. Get the driver and then make sure it's set as the primary MIDI device in your Windows control panel sound applet.

In fact, check your sound applet in the control panel and see if it's even present in your MIDI devices, if not you definitely need the driver.

Some companies claim "plug and play" based on most sound drivers and not Windows built in drivers - that's your dilemma.

yes to install the drivers / follow instructions / he may need to try restarting it is taken into account.
after that in peripheral / audio / select MIDI playback device. (it is the scaffold choose USB MIDITECH midistar)

detail / drivers are or on a CD
                           or already on the midistar
  follow the instructions given by windows.

Ok... well the Hua Xing drivers were not as available as I thought. There are still options.

First, check the windows device manager and see if there is an item there called Composite USB Device and see if there is a yellow or red flag like and exclamation point or an X. Does anything there have a flag?

Not sure where the Hua Xing driver went but try searching for Composite USB Device drivers or hotfix.

Double click the driver with the yellow ? and see what it says. At the bottom of that screen there should be a description of the problem. Let me know what it says.

You can also uninstall that device and try again - closing EVERYTHING including programs and anitvirus.
