MainConcept MPEG-4 codec

Hi

For those who've installed the MainConcept codec from

Help > Install extra programs > MainConcept MPEG-4 codec (which requires a payment to activate)

have you found the encoding quality better than the Intel MPEG4 encoder which comes out of the box?

In other words, is it worth the payment to get it?

Hi

First it would help if we knew which version of MEP you are referring to.

If you have bought the Basic version of MEP then you will have to pay for the Main Concept MPEG4 codec.

AFAIK MEP is designed to work with the Main Concept codec for MP4 and will not work with the Intel codec - that is why you have to purchase it if you went for the cheaper version of MEP.

Thanks for your reply. I guess MEP = Magix Video Pro? Sorry, I should have mentioned I have X6. I had no idea there was a basic version. The default seems to be Intel version, which I found to be not so good. I had decided to buy the add-on MainConcept, and found it to be a much better experience. So it's 'worth it' and for the added cost, ought to be simply included in the base cost of the software.
