MAGIX iZotope Ozone 8 Elements

NealO wrote on 11/5/2017, 9:57 PM

iZotope Ozone 8 Elements was included in a download package that bundled with the latest edition of SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 12. The bundled package also included MAGIX Audio Cleaning Lab & essentialFX Suite. Question: how do I launch iZotope Ozone 8 Elements as a separate application or is the program a 'plug-in' that is folded into Audio Studio 12? I cannot find find the program's executable anywhere on my PC. I hope someone in the community knows what's up with the iZotope Ozone 8 Elements program. Thank you. NealO

Hi,

Bad news. ACL does not handle VST's, so you can't add in Ozone 8 elements. If you have MusicMaker Plus or Premium or a free version with VST activated, you can use it with that. You can also use it with Audio and Music Lab, the advanced version of ACL. I only got Ozone 7 Elements with my purchase of MusicMaker Premium. SFAS12, Ozone 7 Elements and some other things came with MusicMaker.

Also, as far as I know, Ozone is a plugin; no standalone version comes with it, at least I can't find one for 7.

Thank you, browj2. I downloaded the wrong version of Music Maker. When I install the correct version with VST activated, I'll poke around for Ozone 8 Elements. I thought it was a plug-in, but wasn't sure since I couldn't locate the elements in any of my SFAS12 bundled programs. Thanks again. NealO

Hi,

The plugin is probably under:

C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins

Thanks John CB, found the VST Plugins. Still can't find where the Ozone 8 Elements can be found on my PC. I installed the downloaded program and it finished successfully. I've checked all of my MAGIX programs and searched for the elements but they are a no-show. Any help as to where they can be located on my PC would be appreciated. Thank you. NealO.

Hi

. . . . Still can't find where the Ozone 8 Elements can be found on my PC. . . . .

The program and its other components should be installed in the following locations:

  • Program and uninstaller:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\iZotope\Ozone 8 Elements

  • Presets:

    C:\Users\Username\Documents\iZotope\Ozone 8 Elements\Presets

  • VST's:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\iZotope

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3\iZotope

For Music Maker you may have to add the 32 bit VST path (the last one above) in the programs settings before the Izotope VST's are recognized.

@johnebaker

The dll's for Ozone 7 are under the root for me:

C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins

C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins

Here is what is under Program Files (x86):

so I set the path to the root folder and Ozone showed up.

Hi John CB

My Ozone 7 installation is in the same root locations as Ozone 8 I posted above.

I think the folder paths may be different depending on prior installations of MMM and the route by which MMM2018 was installed.

Did installed MMM 2018 direct as opposed to going via MMM 2017?

First, I want to thank all of you for your input. I’m a little disappointed in the way MAGIX has deployed their Ozone 8 Elements plugin set.  No user should have get this deep in the weeds to be able to access an installed product.  For John CD: My VSTPlugins folder does not list any elements .dll’s.  (Please see attached).

Again, I’m running Windows 10 Home w/Fall Creators Update (16299).  I’m a web dev/des and I’ve never had this much trouble lashing plugins to a program.  Does MAGIX provide any Support/FAQ’s covering this program?  Thank you all for your time.  NealO.

Never mind the above rant. I was able to load the iZotope Ozone 8 Elements in SFAS12 under 'Plugins/Mastering/Ozone 8 Elements (VST3). I checked the 'Scan VST folders for new plug-ins' and that loaded the plugins. Thanks to all who offered input. This will end my portion of this thread. Thank you. NealO

Hello NealO,

i am happy, that you could find a solution for your problem. I am always interested to improve the user experience and i would like to ask you if you have a better way then: "Scan VST folders for new plug-ins" in the Plug-ins Menu. If you have any suggestions, i am always open for it.

Best regards

Tom

Hi Tom:

Actually I came upon 'Scan VST folders for new plug-ins' by accident. I was just poking around in SFAS12, and when I dropped-down the Plug-in menu, I selected 'Scan VST folders for new plug-ins'. When I exited SFAS12 and then re-opened the program, there was a new, upper-level item named 'Mastering' on the Plug-in menu. When you open Mastering, a flyout appears indicating 'Ozone 8 Elements (VST3)' is loaded and ready for use. When you open Ozone 8 Elements the first time, the Authorization pop-up dialog appears requiring entering the serial number. After you've Authorized use of the program with iZotope, you're good to go. Open Ozone 8 Elements at will. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I keep seeing MM2018 mentioned.... did I miss something? I don't see it on product page, and don't recall seeing an email about it either. Is there an info page or place I can go to see whats new?

Hi

@GRB

Music Maker has no year number or version number in it name the product is in continuous developement adding new features as well as patches for bugs.

Users refer to it as MMM 2018 to avoid confusion with MMM 2017.

MMM 2018 was the first major upgrade in the continuous development cycle.

Hey John, thanks for quick reply. I actually am aware of the number (year) drop from software title, but I have to say it’s still confusing in this transition moment.... especially when posts and people are using the number/year system still as reference. Maybe a version build reference would be more universal and less confusing. Dunno.

Anyway, I have recently started consolidating (trying it out at least) all of my previous versions into the new MM25 w Edition Activation feature. It seems to be working well overall, but honestly still a little confusing and a few hiccups here and there, overall very good.

I have more specific questions on this and what I’m seeing and not getting....should I create a new post for this so it is focused?

Lmk, and help very appreciated, thank you

I agree totally, I have lost count of the number of times that more information about the version number has had to be asked for.

. . . . I have more specific questions on this and what I’m seeing and not getting... . . .

Assuming that there has not already been a question about what you are seeing and not getting or it does not relate to an existing question you have posted, then I would create a now topic so that the focus can be maintained and it not get buried in a different problem.
