moh-nia7311 wrote on 12/1/2022, 7:41 AM

Its almost a month now,I purchased Acud Studio 11.

Iam struggling to update the Magix Acid Studio 11, looking for Magix technical Support email for help ..

Able to download the update, but cannot install...says has some problem with Microsoft c++ 2013..

I don't have much computer knowledge..

Its sad company like Magix has no direct email for technical support to help its customers.

Hope somebody help me solve this update issue..

Thanks

Moh

@moh-nia7311 This problem can usually be solved if you open Windows Apps and Features and uninstall the C++2013 Redistributables. The ACID installer will reinstall them again (an older version).

Then make a search for Windows updates so the older C++2013 Redistributables get updated. Or download and install the newest version manually from Microsoft. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#visual-studio-2013-vc-120

I was able to update once I removed all instances of the 2013 Dist that was installed on my computer. So goto apps and scroll the list and uninstall all of the 2013s and then run acid and say yes to the update, Worked for me!

@SP. and @David-Spence6863 I went through this last year with Magix Support help a few times as I was loading, unloading, and reloading programs from one computer to another, and same computer after a few needed resets, gasp....

Not really wanting to dive into the whole 2013 Redistributable thing again on my newer Win 11 machine, but did it fix the issues once and for all with ACID Studio 11?

Also, since this is still the "current" version being sold, has there been any updates to it since Win 11 was released years ago? Last I tried it was on my old trusty Win 10 machine... I did successfully load AP10 on my Win 11 machine, but decided I didn't want it on there as its last update was prior to Win 11...... if that makes sense....

Was there a recent bug fix and update to AMS11?

Cheers and may the Music Season be 24/7/365 !

@GRB Last version of Acid Music Studio 11 is from 2019. So no updates since then.

Last version of Acid Pro 10 was from early 2020. During Covid lockdown Magix stopped development of Acid. They later released Acid Pro 11, but that version only got an important bugfix and new third party plugins. Nothing else changed, at least to my knowledge.

Bummer on the AMS 11 same since 2019.... How the heck is it listed as Win 11 compatible on site then... ? Wow, I could swear that AP 10 was older than AMS 11, but guess I was wrong.... too many pandemic years messing with the brain waves.....

Maybe I'll try it with the above mentioned "workaround" and see how it goes on Win 11... with AMS 11.... Eleven, Eleven.... sounds like it should work, lol

Well, I tried it and didn't work for me, so now I've gotten rid of 3 residing 2013 Redistributables and the older AMS 11 one only allows it to be installed just fine, but not updated to the newest release... just errors, bummer....

@GRB Which error message are you getting? That the Redistributables cannot be installed? Have you tried restarting the computer after uninstalling them? Please select the Restart option and not the Shut down option. Then try to install the update.

"Error -2147163967 occured during installation"

"Error Failed to install Microsoft Visual C++2013 Redistributable (x64)"

Sorry to be a bother SP, but can you help me to eliminate all of the steps options....?

So I :

1. Delete all 2013 C++

2. Reboot with "Restart"

3. Fresh install AMS11 for first go (original version)

4. Say yes to Update option as its configuring things for first time install?

5. Leave things alone at that point, or delete older installed 2013 C++ at that point and load the newer one from Microsoft?

Did I miss anything or best follow up reboot, etc?

PS, it loads and works fine apparently upon first install of original version, but is not with update attempts. Again, I am on Win 11, so I don't know if that is a problem... or as I read somewhere, a "permission" thing for system folder somehow? I really don't want to get in and start mucking system folders/settings up honestly.

@GRB If it still doesn't work, the problem is likely that the fresh install of Acid Music Studio 11, before doing the update, installs the 2013 Redistributables again. So I would suggest to remove them again before doing the update. And after it is finished, install the newest from 2013 Redistributables from Microsoft.

Ok, so....

1. delete 2013's

2. system Restart

3. Fresh install of AMS (or Pro even)

4. Do not update upon first ask...

5. Close ACID.

5. Delete all 2013's again

6. system Restart again

7. open ACID, say yes to Update?

*** I feel like I may have tried this late last night, but I will try it again if this is correct in your view. I may not have done exact sequence above as I was trying many combinations of options and timing....

Nope, I just did like 6 or more reboots and tries with above and slightly different each time, nothing worked, same error. I've created a support ticket asking for the download link for the updated version to skip the update process.....

If no link to updated version can be sent from Magix to skip the issue, I may just give up on it once again... maybe just go back to AP10, or no ACID... I like to revisit from time to time, historically, about twice a year I go through all of this.... lol gasp....

Last changed by GRB on 6/22/2024, 3:00 PM, changed a total of 1 times.

I just purchased Acid Studio 11. Downloaded EVERYTHING... Each time I open ACid it asks if I want to load the new version which I have done twice now but it asks this each time.

SP. wrote on 11/28/2024, 4:11 PM

@Curtis-Elston It probably cannot download the update or it gets deleted by Windows Defender or Antivirus as soon as the download has finished. Maybe temporarily disable Windows Defender and try to update again. After that's done re-enable Windows Defender.
