maggix rescue my videos

I have recently installed the English version "Save my Video version 2.0. Every time I put a video into my machine to record I am faced the message
Write protected, cannot write data. I have tried professionally made videos, recording from the television and holiday videos all without success. The protection tab has been removed at the rear of the videos but I have taped this over but i still get the same message. Anyone know what the problem could be?

All these videos are from VHS? It shouldn't matter if the tabs on the cassettes are there or not, basically the \vcr is just doing a playback, the software is recording the analog playback and creating a digital vidoe file.

Can you tell me at what point in the recording process that you get this error?
