I bought Xara Web Designer MX in 2012 I think it was, and I would like to upgrade it. Unfortunately, I lost my serial number when I changed my PC for a workstation about a year ago. Is there any way of regaining the original serial number?
The MX versions of Magix/Xara software are now very old, but, having checked my own account, I see the serial key for Movie Edit Pro MX still listed so you should be able to access your needed key by doing the following:
Thank you Jeff for your reply. Unfortunately, I bought MX just before Magix took over Xara so the only product in my account page is Vegas Pro.
I have noticed while using the trial MX recently is that on the splash screen just before it starts it has my details (name, email etc.) in the bottom right corner so there must be some record of my registration somewhere.
I suspect that registration information is likely to be held in the Registry of your old computer, possible in an encrypted format.
In your situation I think you must email infoservice@magix.net, explain the problem and ask for their help in retrieving your serial number.
Jeff
Edit: to add; I see that Magix bought Xara in 2007. I'm almost 100% certain that the "MX" software products were released some years after 2007. (I know MEP MX came in 2009, at the earliest.) Are you sure your purchase predates that takeover?
I suspect you may have to upgrade to a newer version of Xara Web Designer.
Xara Web Designer MX was released near the end of March 2012 and may not produce fully compatible HTML 5 sites - the HTML 5 specification had a major update in 2014, and smaller tweaks since.
There may be other issues in that some of the Widgets that use 3rd party resources may no longer work as the 3rd party is no longer in existence or have changed their systems and/or protocols.
I thought I may have to upgrade, but because I need the MX serial number to do that I will try and follow Jeff's advice and email infoservice@magix.net
