Losing Projects

DugsBugs wrote on 9/30/2017, 9:18 PM

Just another bug to add to the ProX list.
In the last 2 major edits I have done, the program freezes saying "Magix not responding"
When I try to re open the program, it has gone, nothing to see and it has automatically saved another project with "Old" after the name.
I am then able to open this one and keep editing.
On other occasions, it has not saved another one and the project is gone forever.
I find myself saving multiple copies and mixing sections of the project down as I go just in case.
This problem is not limited to the current PX because it happened to me twice in PX7 but it's happening more with the current version.
Anyone had the same issue?

Hi,

Do you have automatic backup turned on? And what is the frequency. Mine is set to 10min, so that is the most that I will lose.

I too occasionally get crashes, so I depend on frequent saves and the backup files.

Hi John.
The saving is not the issue.
I save the project all the time by habit, I don't set it to auto because that has led to crashing in the past as well.
The issue is the project disappearing altogether. Not saving only takes you back to the last save you did.
When I lose the project completely, there is no edit to show. Just little dots along the time line.
Very strange problem.

My only other thought is an issue with AVCHD files because all the times it has happened is when I have used my Sony or Canon cameras.Other edits using MP4 or TOD files have been fine.
I only use the first 2 on wedding shoots and they are the only edits I am losing.
I have always liked the fact I can import all my cameras straight into magix without converting but I may need to change my ways if that is the issue.
