Locating downloaded free templates and effects from within Photostory

akakoala wrote on 9/28/2020, 2:50 AM

Hello, I have Photostory VR which I purchased in 2018, and Photostory Deluxe 2021 which I purchased earlier this year. I have just reinstalled both of these programs, seeking to move them to another disk partition to save space. When I installed them I nominated a non-default location of the templates and effects etc during the process. Now that the installation is complete when I run say Photostory 2021 it does not appear to be seeing the templates etc. How can I get the program to look for the templates etc in the location I have chosen? Thank you for any advice,

Jeff

@akakoala

Hi,

Just to make sure, did you actually download and install the templates for both versions? See under Help, install extra content (or something like that).

Yes I did. I'm trying to install them on the disk partition I use for programs and not on the default system drive.

@akakoala

In your original post you implied that you had installed the templates etc. to a "non-standard" location; your latest post says you are trying to install them ...  Which is it?

The correct method of installing them elsewhere than the default is to choose the Custom install option and when the installer "suggests" where the program and all its content is to be installed the user has the option to edit the installation paths. Did you do this?

There is one important caveat to be aware of when installing to a non-standard location: any update to that content may cause the location to be reset.

Yes I installed the assets to a location I chose in the dialog which is part of the install process for the programs. One is given that option and that is what I used.

That is I did it as per your second paragraph.

I will uninstall the programs and start again. This will be my fourth attempt.

I resolved this by downloading in the normal way, inserting the desired directory in the installation dialog box and then installing each component separately one by one.
