Lens barrel distortion correction in Magix Pro x6?

Hi everyone,

I have a video which has some lens barrel distortion and I want to correct it. If I go to the video effects -> distortion panel I see the option Lens.

That does somehow corrects the issue but now the top/bottom/left & right side is somehow warped and that is not what I want.

Is there a way to do correction of lens barrel distortion in another way?

Hi

Assuming VPX 6 is like its smaller brother MEP then using the Lens tool will not give you a 100% correct image due to the amount of distortion involved in correcting the barrel distortion as shown below

NOTE: this is a closeup (~ 10m )with a 170 deg view W/A lens

You have to use the Section/Zoom control to remove the majority of the edge curvature and the Perspective control to correct perspective errors - an example is shown below

When taking video on a camera that exhibits significant barrel distortion on nearby objects, eg a sportscam, you have to take into account that there will be some cropping.

Thank you for your response John.

This is an example as how it looks in VPX6. The video doesnt have barrel distortion but just to show how the image is changed.

So VPX6 has a similar lens correction tool. But as you see it distorts the borders heavily. Your solution to crop the image means  a lot of the image is gone which to me is not really a solution then.

For photos I use photoshop and there the lens barrel correction behaves differently. Isnt the same possible in VPX?
