Last used preset for Effects and Processes

Marius-Itimovici wrote on 11/20/2023, 4:01 AM

In Sound Forge 17 I have encountered an strange issue. When I apply an Effect or Process on a file and I use a presset, next time when I am opening the same EFX or Process I have to select that presset again because it changes to another presset. For example if I am aplying now an Paragrafic EQ with Remove row rumble 80 Hz, next time when I am applying Paragrafic EQ it opens the following presset: [Sys] 15 dB notch centered at 1000 Hz.

What shall I do to have the last presset selected next time when I want to use an EFX or Process?

Annoying.. ain't it. On my PC, the paragraphic EQ reverts back to the last used or saved user preset.
Contact Magix Support, they may be aware of the behavior already with Direct X plug-ins.

Verry annoying...

Thank you rraud! I will do so.

I still have this problem after I contacted support. They first saidthat they will release an update for SF 17 and that update will fix these issues. After that my ticket was closed.

After the release of SF 18 I contacted them again and they suggested to buy SF 18 and the se problems will be solved. And they closed my ticket again.

Now I have tested a trial version of SF 18 and it has the same behaviour.

Is there any fix and I do not know about it?

This behavior started from version 15. Version 14 and earlier do not have this behavior. I sent email to support and it seems that they won't fix it.

My SF 15 PRO works well. It does not behave like this. But I have upgraded to SF 18 Pro Suite and after that I got these problems. I am wondering if I have just download the trial version of SF 18 PRO (without suite) maybe this will be ok?

No...unfortunatelly it seems that the PRO version has the same bugs as the PRO Suite version.

I have tested the SF 18 trial version for both.

You are right. Pro version has same behavior Suite version.

When I sent email to support, a person replied:

"This behavior is completley normal for the program version 18. It's the exact same program behavior here on our end and have never been expected to do anything different. This is no bug or issue at all, as I already mentioned twice. I am sorry".

Have you tried to simply save it as a new user preset?

Thank you SP! This is a good workaround!

This is very annoying because old versions of SoundForge were not doing that! And when you apply these effects again and again, while editing a long file it is very disturbing to select it again.

I believe that SP's solution is very good. I have used it in the past but I did not realised that the new user presets that I have created are not replaced by another default presset of the software. Now, when I was thinking of it I have remembered that this might work and when I try it in SF 17, I confirm that it works well.

I guess that I will stay at version 17 and not upgrade to 18, because I feel that the updates that version 18 brings are not a key factor for me.

Thank you for helping me with this issue!

This is workaround, not definitive solution. Old sound forge versions do not have this issue.

Yes, this is true, but this solution works well for me.

Or I could switch back to version 15 which works well for me, without this bug.

Besides I do not have to upgrade to another version, which will still not solve my problem if I would do it, and this saves me money.
