@richard-w

When you installed the new version did you also download and install the Additional Content , under Help>Free Download? This includes about 146MB of Transitions.

Hi Rick

Are you working with video that has Surround Sound (5.1) audio?

If so did you get a popup requesting you to activate a codec or install an exapnsion pack?

If so did you install/activate it?

Hi John.. Only video in photo show is MP4. Don't remember a popup. But if one came up I would have downloaded it. I have had Magix for at least 8 or 9 yrs and this is the 1st time I had real problems. My computer Windows Home Premium,Processor Intel[R]Core[TM]i5-2400. CPU3.10GHz.Ram14GB 64 operating System. A novice with the technical stuff. Do I totally uninstall all the program and re buy a totally new program from Magix. I do not like changing things in settings, when I don't know what I am doing.

Kind Regards Rick

Hi Rick

I suspect the transitions, effects etc that do not work are because your computer is below the recommended specification for Photostory 2021, it may also struggle with the resolutions of modern video.

. . . . Only video in photo show is MP4 . . .

We need a MediaInfo analysis if the MP4 file - copy the text from the Text view in MediaInfo and post it in your reply - this will tell us what is actually in the MP4 file which is a 'container' file which can have many different types of encoded video and audio.

. . . . Do I totally uninstall all the program and re buy a totally new program from Magix . . . .

With an i5-2400 processor from 2011 the computer is going to struggle with most modern programs - this include competitor programs as well .

Hi John

I looked back over the 10 years I have had Magix, and last years one I should have kept. It worked beautiful on my computer... Never had a one problem with it..Loved it !!! paid for a upgrade to 2021 in October and has not worked correctly since...So guess what... I have uninstalled every bit out of the computer and will never bother with Magix ever again. and will not recommend it to anyone!!!! Sad that we will never making any Photoshows again.

Thanks for previous information.

Regards Rick

Hi

Did you try downloading and re-installing an older version from your account at magix.com?

Hi John

Thanks so much for your advice. I have downloaded the last version 2020 and it works great,, But a little more help please. When I go to the burning window, I usually click on AVCHD and then to next window and save file in a folder for a flash drive for my smart television because they will not fit on a blank DVD. But it will not do it ..seems to want to burn to DVD and comes up with movie error. What settings in the final window do I put it on so it burns as a AVCHD Video file. Checked all the previous ones I have done and they have been AVCHD Video files. Why has this changed... Can you help me please. Merry Christmas.

Regards Rick

How long is the movie you are trying to burn?

Do you mean DVD or Blu-Ray (BD) disc - if DVD you can only burn an AVCHD movie of 20 - 25 mins duration on a standard DVD disc, on a BD disc upto 2hrs..

Check if your TV or Blu-Ray player can play AVCHD or MP4 video files from USB, if so there is no need to burn the movie - use the File, Export movie, Video as MPeg 4 option and select the appropriate preset, you may need to click the Display all option in the export dialog to see all the presets available, and put this on the USB stick.
