Internal Error

faisal_ahmed786 wrote on 9/8/2017, 4:26 PM

Hi,

I kept getting an internal error with my version of Video pro, so I bought the latest version. I am still getting the same error message and have tried updating online and restarting. The error is:

Sorry Internal Error

No FilePointer in MoviePosition

File:PRIM.CPP

Line:1169

This error comes up whenever I open a project, I usually have to hold enter and it eventually ends, only to pop back up while editing.

Hi.

That error message means, almost certainly, that your project file is corrupt. Does it appear only with the one specific project or are you seeing it even when beginning a new project?

If the problem is a corrupted project file, if you check your hard drive for versions of it with the suffix _BAK you may be able to open an older version from before the error first appeared. If so, immediately save this fully-working version under a new name so that you can continue, hopefully without seeing the error message again.

Hi

We need more information:

  1. Computer specification - processor make/model, graphics card or chipset, RAM,  hard drive configuration, sizes and free space?

  2. Windows version and is it up to date?  Press and hold down the Windows key and the R key - in the dialog that opens type in winver and press enter.

  3. Software full name and version number - as found under Help, About . . .

Also please read this post before replying and add any other information you think may be relevant.

Hi

Thanks for the computer specification.

. . . . It appears on all files. I started again from scratch, the following day the error appeared again. . . . .

Are you experiencing any issues such as excessive disk activity, or slow responses to the mouse or keyboard particularly within the 10 - 15 minutes after start up?

To eliminate a problem with the hard drive, try running a Scandisk on the drive to see if there are any issues with it - to scan the drive:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and click Computer in the left pane.
  2. Right-click on the drive to be checked and select Properties.
  3. Click on Tools tab and under Error-checking, click on the Check button.

This option will check the drive for file system errors. If the system detects that there are errors, you will be asked to check the disk.

Hi John. I tried this and it says there are no errors with the drive. What else could the issue be?

faisal_ahmed786 wrote on 9/12/2017, 4:19 PM

Here are the errors that come up whenever I open a saved project, any project.

I then press enter a few times before getting this:

I then hold enter for over 1 minute before the project loads. Only to continue showing errors while i'm editing.

Hi

This appears to be a bug in the .171 Patch that is supposed to be fixed in the new .176 Patch however this patch is in question and may have been pulled as it does appear available thru the Program> On line update.

I had the fault appear last night after using the Windnoise1 noise sample and luckily was able to stop it by Rt clicking on the clip I had applied it to and "Reset Audio Effects (to none)".

Prior to this I found the offending effect in the VPX project folder in My Documents>.....VideoProX>AudioTemp but every time I approached the files mentioned in the Error message (about renaming - HDP,HO,etc) with the mouse, Win Explorer closed,,,,,,Weird!

Hi

@DugsBugs

. . . . These files from what I gather are for Cutting noise from audio and they are samples . . . .

The noise WAV files are not just samples as in they are only to give you an example of the sort of noise to be removed.

The WAV files control what is displayed in the Preset options list, which should be empty if you deleted all the files. See the composite before and after Preset options below where I have removed the Aircraft noise sample files.

The sample files are also used as the reference noise file for analysis and application to the audio object being de-noised.

@johnebaker
Thanks John.
I did actually remove the comment but in my case I would rather be able to open the program than have noise samples I don't use. I clean audio with Magix audio cleaning lab or Adobe Audition.
It's just another bug that needs sorting.
Deleting the files hasn't affected me at all and I still have them in another location in case.
