Hi.  I think this only works with Xara Designer Pro.  Is this the "version" you have, or are you talking about a different "lesser" version?

I see from the VPX4 manual that it states the option to "create effects masks..." "will appear only when a corresponding graphics progam is installed on your PC".

Hi Jeff

Yes, I have Designer Pro 6. The problem seems to be that Vidoe Pro X doesnt know it!

Hi

Try searching in the German part of the Q&A or Forum about this. There was a huge thread discussing this about four or five months ago when Video Deluxe 2013 (MEP) and VPX came out with this integration.

Use the translator in IE to translate (Rt. click > translate this page).

It does work but can not remember why everyone was having trouble. Maybe a patch addressed it. Are you on the latest?

Thanks, I did have a root around in there but could not get an answer. I then decided that I needed this to work today so I stumped up for a "premium email support ticket" for £10. They sent me this and it did not work! Clcked on the link and it was an invalid number. I then had to call Germany to explain and get my money refunded. I am so upset with all this. And THEN 10 minutes later I get a Pro X 5 upgrade offer!

Yeah, like I want to give them any more og my money. Terrible customer service. But what choice do we have?

I tried a search in Q&A - "masks in designer" and did not find the post I was thinking of but came across This :http://www.magix.info/us/trotz-videodeluxe-2013-premium-und-foto-grafik-designer-2013.knowledge.890560.html

I think in this case they found that the OP did not have the latest windows updates installed and was possibly missing a microsoft.netframework update.

This feature is designed around the MX = Media eXchange functionality of both programs so may only work with the latest 2013 Designer.

Also check in the Program Settings >Folders > Image editor that the default is your graphics editor's path.

Well thank you for looking. I spent a fair while in there using various search terms and drew a blank. I know about the facility to define a location for an external editor, so I use Photoshop instead of the awful Magix Photo Designer, but this is not the same as being able to make a mask. To edit a still image you can just right click on it inthe timeline and select edit. It then fires up the program and you make the changes, and save.

As opposed to creating an entirely new object which can be used as an alpha mask.

I do have all latest patches as I keep my system very up to date.
