installing codecs

How do you install codecs into Movie Edit Pro 14+?

I want to export my video with a specific codec that is not in the program, i have the codec on my computer, but where do i put it so MEP reconizes it?

Just to avoid potential misunderstandings: What kind of codec is that and how do you intend to use it?

If this is a proper DirectShow-compliant codec, you'd use it in the context of AVI export in Movie Edit Pro, where you will find installed DirectShow codecs under the configuration options for the export. The patch probably came with an installer that will perform the installation into the DirectShow framework.
