Installation will not complete

DWNY wrote on 5/7/2018, 8:39 AM

I tried installing Acid Pro 8, and it looks like it gets about 3/4 of the way installed, then it rolls back and does not complete. I'm getting this error message:

---

ERROR: -2147163964 occurred during installation

Module C:\Program Files (x86)\MAGIX\Shared Plug-Ins\Audio_x64\sfacidfx_x64.dll failed to register.

HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your support personnel

---

Any way to get around this? I'd like to get the new program installed and working. Thanks.

I did find the post with the information on updating/repairing the C++ redistributables and tried that with no success. Any other ideas?

If you are on Win7 update to Service Pack 1.... Worked for me.

I'm on Windows 8, up to date as far as I know. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Hi @DWNY,

I guess you refered to this thread.

This issue was fixed by now, hence the installation should work fine after the next update.

I give up. I am too old for this. It is like reliving the DOS nightmare allover again! Requested a refund and will return to AP7 32bit on the W7 and W10 platforms, Too bad. Magix people...please contact the unemployed Sony programmers and fix this thing!!!

Any updates on this? It's been over a month now.

I'm trying to be patient. This is not helping.

estrellainc wrote on 6/25/2018, 5:16 PM

I did upgrade my OS from win8 to win8.1 It allowed me to install the 64 bit version of Acid 8. I am still running Acid 7 so I can use my old 16 bit VSTs and plugins.

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to let you know an updated installer that fixes this problem is available on the MAGIX website. If you download the trail version you should be able to go through the installation without having the error message pop up. Use then your serial number to register the software.

Cheers!

estrellainc wrote on 7/3/2018, 10:00 PM

it worked. the regular install still did not but the trial worked as expected.

thanks!

bkeller I am trying to instal Acid Pro Next and I'm getting the same notification you all was getting for Acid Pro 8. I tried the repair for the redistribution packs and even downloaded the installer from their web site and I still got that awful notification. Help please. 😣 Acid was my first program I used to start making beats.
