Inserting and removing music from a slide show.

Photostory Deluxe Version 19.0.1.18

Inserting music in sequence is not a problem. My questions: 1.) What is the fastest way to completely remove music from a slide show?

2.) How do you remove a single track from, say a 10 track slide show and insert a different track into the same place?

3.) On the slide show I am now working on, I decided to change the music completely. I had 6 tracks installed. I removed them the only way I know, by clicking on the end of track and sliding it to the left until it disappeared. After all of the tracks had been removed, I was left with a few remnants that I could not eliminate. Although the remnants (3) were no thicker than a single line, the music was never completely eliminated. When I inserted the new track, it went to what was the end of the original storyline. I had to click and slide the track to the beginning of the slide show to get it in its' proper position. Additional tracks installed correctly in sequence.

Any ideas? Thank you, John

@John-Duane

The latest version of PS Deluxe is 19.0.1.24 so you might want to consider updating.

The simplest method of removing a whole track is to ensure that only that track and all its content is highlighted (hold down Shift, click on the first and last objects) and then simply press the Delete key. A group of tracks can be similarly dealt with; just make sure they are all highlighted first.

The problem of those short "leftovers", assuming you are using Timeline mode, simply zoom in to each one (the "lines" will grow bigger) and again, highlight and Delete. The reason why your "new" music went to the end of your "storyline" is because of those remaining leftovers.

Hi

. . . . What is the fastest way to completely remove music from a slide show? . . . . .

Select all the music clips by holding down the Ctrl key and left click with the mouse on each music clip (object) then press the delete key (Del)

. . . . How do you remove a single track from, say a 10 track slide show and insert a different track into the same place? . . . .

This is called Exchange object - select the object to be replaced, select the new object in the Media pool and then click the Exchange button - do note that any differences in length of the new object will cause movement left or right of the objects following it.

. . . . clicking on the end of track and sliding it to the left until it disappeared. . . . . I was left with a few remnants that I could not eliminate . . .

This only shortens the object to the smallest possible duration ie 1 frame - see the first item above for deletion.

These are basic editing operations - I would advise you to read the pdf manual available under Help

Hi,

I am totally lost as to what you are doing.

In timeline view, PhotoStory only has 8 tracks, not 10. You cannot delete, move, or create tracks, they are just there.

You cannot have 6 tracks installed; there are 8.

Are you sure you know what a track is?

In the above, the images are piled one on top of the other. Thus the only one visible is on the highest track number, in this case 8.

Below is the result of using SlideShow Maker and adding music. The images are on track 1, the music on track 4 by default. To remove anything, you just click on the object on the timeline and the delete key.

EDIT: John EB explained to me that your use of the term "tracks" refers to the songs or audio objects that you are using. Tracks in that context refers to music tracks on a CD. In video and audio, the term tracks refers what I have shown above. To avoid confusion, please try to use the terminology that you see in the manual.
