Incompatible Sound Card?

masonix wrote on 9/24/2011, 8:22 AM

After running a Syscheck on my computer, I have been told that my sound card may not meet the requirements of Samplitude 11.5. Presumably, this is why I am still experiencing latency problems with my MIDI keyboard, even after trying ASIO4ALL v2? If I need a new sound card, which one would be suitable for my computer and Samplitude?  My computer is a (new) Hewlett-Packard G5460uk Desktop with Windows 7. Is there another solution?

Hi

How are you connecting your midi keyboard?

1.   Through a MIDI to USB converter ?

2.    USB direct?

In both cases ensure you have up to date drivers.

In case 1 some converters have a long latency - you require one with a low latency.

In case 2  I have found the Magix low latency drivers to be better than other ASIO drivers.

Hi Masonix

I have included your reply as it may be useful to others.

Check the keyboard makers web site there may be a driver there for the keyboard.  Also try different USB ports sure that the keyboard is not connected to a USB hub with other devices connected, they may interfere with each other.

USB ports share resources so if you have other devices on the same hub they may take priority. The image below shows an example of what is connected to one of my USB hubs.  I also have Power Management on the USB hubs set so that they are never powered off (on the Power Management tab of each devices properties.

.... I am connecting my MIDI keyboard directly in a USB socket. Is there a special driver I need to download? I've tried the MAGIX low latency driver in the recording setup but that makes no difference. I'd very much appreciate your advice.
