Inability to use external video monitor as Preview Device in Vegas 14

guy-smith wrote on 2/26/2017, 12:25 PM

I've used Vegas since before it was a Sony product, so I'm well acquainted with the product. I upgraded to 14 and now find my external monitor capability is gone. Sony Vegas Pro 13 is fine, but 14 doesn't work. Going to Preferences>Preview Device, I select Windows Graphic Card, which doesn't provide a way to select my external monitor as a preview device. What is up???

You'd be best to post on the Magix Vegas Forum here.

Hi

Does the external Preview monitor option not appear here?

and have you click the Video Preview on External Monitor (Alt+ Shift+ 4) option shown below

I have used the external monitor feature for years in Sony versions of Vegas Pro up to version 13. I have 13 installed currently and use it with an external monitor now. Accessing the preferences area on Version 14 doesn't allow for selection of the external monitor. There is a pull down where you can select options such as Windows Graphics Card, but nothing below that. Alt F4 doesn't work, but does in 13.

I've included a screen capture of my Vegas Pro 13 preferences as comparison. Selecting Windows Graphics Card allows for further selection, which ultimately allows the external monitor to work.

Hi

The images I posted are from Vegas Pro 14 - your images would indicate that there is an issue with the monitor you want to use is not being detected.

Are you working with a dual monitor system?

If so how are they connected - eg dual DVI, DVI + VGA or HDMI etc?

Is Windows set to extend across both monitors?

Does the Graphics card control panel see two monitors?

Added:

Which build is your Vegas Pro 14? I am on Build 161 (64 bit)
