Does someone have a step-by-step instructions on how and what format and process to export the animation from 3d and make it functional with Web Designer Pro 10 web pages?
With Xara 3D Maker, you can export to various static formats, like jpg, or a few video formats if you want the animation. The animation formats are avi, gif and swf. The flash format will soon be obsolete, so don't use it. GIF works. Export to that and drag and drop it onto your web page in the designer. It should play automatically when the web page is opened.
If you export to avi, then you need to convert it to MP4 or FLV, the only video formats used by Xara.
I would not convert to, or use, the FLV format for several reasons:
requires Flash Player to be installed.
Web browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and derivatives, actively disable the use of Flash Player and requires the user/viewer to install this and enable it.
MP4, containing h.264 encoded, video is now the most universal format for video and is played natively in many browsers on PCs, tablets and mobile devices when the web page is coded to the HTML5 standard
Web Designer Pro supports MP4s and codes for the HTML5 standard.
For short animations GIFs are supported by all browsers and require no plugin to play.
Hi, Could someone explain how you take an animation (Title) from Xara 3d Maker 7 and insert it into the heading of a new created web page on Xara Web Designer 16......I tried exporting as GIF but when dragging to new web page appears as a static gif......Obviously I don't want to use swf (Flash)
. . . . I tried exporting as GIF but when dragging to new web page appears as a static gif . . . .
Does the gif file play correctly if you drag it onto an open web browser?
If so then try exporting the website to a folder on your PC and load this into a browser to see if it works.
If this fails an alternative is to export the animation as AVI then convert to MP4 h.264 using a video converter and put this in the header - a test example is below:
However there are a few gotchas using video - see this comment and those after it.
Thanks John for your fast response...... Yes the GIF plays fine when opening in Chrome.....and yes it works when viewing via Web Designer 16...Thanks! 👍
Can I ask one (and a half) more questions please? When dropping an MP3 file to new blank page in Web Designer 16 how do I move the audio widget and hide it from view and just play once when page opens and not repeat (I could not find a tick box to remove “loop”) Also is it possible to add audio and also gifs without the drag and drop method as I have to minimise the program so that I can see the files on the desktop to move.....
. . . . how do I move the audio widget and hide it from view and just play once when page opens and not repeat (I could not find a tick box to remove “loop”) . . . .
This is not good practice to play audio without giving the viewer a warning, the option to disable auto play back of audio, or stop it.
. . . . Also is it possible to add audio and also gifs without the drag and drop method as I have to minimise the program so that I can see the files . . .
For images use Insert, Image, From file and browse to the folder containing the image, for audio and images you can also use File, Import.
. . . . on the desktop to move . . .
Storing files on your Desktop is also not good practice - all user files should be within your Documents folder.
The Documents folder is a protected folder, in the event of a Windows update resetting the Desktop, Windows does an automatic System restore, which it may do if the last saved settings cannot be reloaded on next startup, or you have to do a restore - the desktop will revert to the state it was in at the last System save - if files were added after this then they too will be lost.
If you have not done so download the PDF manual from here - I am assuming you are using Web Designer Premium 16
