Import for file type 101 is not possible!

M-J-S wrote on 11/27/2022, 5:04 PM

Edit wave externally fails and gives the following message: Import for file type 101 is not possible!

Using Magix Movie Studio 2023 Platinum, ver 22.0.3.167

Sound Forge Audio Cleaning Lab 4, ver 26.0.0.23 (DP3)

I've tried numerous wave files without success. Combine audio for mixdown wave doesn't seem to work either.

When I revert back to Sound Forge Audio Cleaning Lab 3, everything works as it should.

@M-J-S You can reset the program to its default behaviour via the Help menu. I would suggest you try that and see if it helps.

Hi

. . . . I've tried numerous wave files without success.. . .

Are they all from the same source?

. . . . Import for file type 101 is not possible! . . . .

This usually means the file is not in a compatible format or encoded in a format not supported.

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the audio files and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required, the process is the same as for video files shown in the tutorial..

Hello John, It appears Magix is aware of the issue: from a recent conversation..."According to product management and development, a program update should actually be available very soon. I just followed up with them the other day to nag them a little bit.  ;-)  So, fingers crossed."

SP. wrote on 11/29/2022, 2:58 PM

@M-J-S Magix is aware of this problem for a year now. No solution in sight except using the 32 bit version or an earlier version.

I don't think they will even release a patch for the current version because it is likely the next version will release in December or January. Usually they abandon the previous version after the release of the new version.

@SP. @johnebaker

Hi,

I just purchased and installed SFACL4, upgrading from 3. I, too, get the 101 error.

I'll raise a ticket, but it would be good to know what this is, if it's important or not.

Installing the 32 bit version is not a solution - correcting the problem is.

@browj2 It would be nice if Magix support could debug this problem directly on a computer like yours. Maybe through a remote software like TeamViewer and a special version of SFACL4 with debugging enabled. Usually it shouldn't be hard to find the line of code where the import fails. But as long as they cannot reproduce the problem on their test machines it will take forever to find it.

@SP.

Hi,

Yes, but I'm not buying the argument that Magix can't reproduce the problem. Too many users have it. No problem with SFACL3, just the clean installation of 4.

The message pops up on starting SFACL 4.

I'll raise a ticket.

I'm also experiencing this problem, but not with WAV files - with FLAC files.

The software can perform operations on these files, but this error message is for the birds and is a constant annoyance.

Sound Forge Audio Cleaning Lab 4 ver 26.0.0.23 (DP3), 64-bit

I did uninstall the 64-bit version...install the 32-bit version...then uninstall again and re-install the 64-bit, for a reason that becomes clear below.

The suggestion has been made the 32-bit install fixes the bug...and it does...what it also does is make it impossible to use most of the other plug-ins, including most Izotope (Neutron 4 Elements, Ozone 9/10 Elements, Vinyl, etc.), Melodyne, Convology, Spectralayers, etc. that I've bought, and should be able to use, and can use with the 64-bit version.

I'm hopeful Magix can provide an update that fixes this. Reading here that Magix can't reproduce the problem...that's like saying the doctor isn't sick...can Magix buy a few new laptops for further testing? I've got an HP ZBook Fury 17.3 inch G8 Mobile Workstation...at the least, ask HP if there's anything they can test for?...recommend?...etc.?

Really, I don't mean to sound testy, but this is getting tiring. I really like this software; I don't like the error.

@audio-love

Hi,

If you haven't done so, please raise a ticket with Magix. Enough users have to complain to get Magix to fix this.

There is also a problem with the interface with SpectraLayers - the playback marker in SpectraLayers does not move in sync with SFACL during playback nor does it stop at the right place, making SpectraLayers pretty much unusable as a plugin.

There is a third problem - SFACL4 cannot be used as the external audio editor in Magix Movie Studio and Video Pro X - the file doesn't load. SFACL4 is the upgrade from 3 which works and the upgrade from Music Editor 3. That SFACL4 doesn't work with the video editors is ridiculous, just like the startup 101 error bug.

@browj2

Thanks for your help. I really like these programs, which is why it's so annoying the errors persist.

The company charges enough it should fix these things. Different if it were really cheap software, but the price tags are heavy.

Anyway, enough of my belly aching. Thanks again!

hi everyone...so the audio cleaning lab (despite the rebranding of the name) is not actually a sound forge program...it's made by the samplitude team (which is why the interface is completely different and there are no similarities with the other sound forge programs). they have been aware of this issue for over a year, but i am hearing now that they are finally in the midst of working on a fix for it. i have no info as to when it will be ready, but the word now is that they are going to fix this and release a patch for it. it's a small team and with all of the other samplitude programs and sequoia to develop, acl hasn't gotten the attention it needs.

Hi

Thanks for the update, and I was wondering why there was a difference in the interface.

@craig-d

Hi,

Thanks for the update.

If you didn't see my message before yours, there are two other problems with SFACL4 that need addressing:

A problem with the interface with SpectraLayers - the playback marker in SpectraLayers does not move in sync with SFACL during playback nor does it stop at the right place, making SpectraLayers pretty much unusable as a plugin.

Third problem - SFACL4 cannot be used as the external audio editor in Magix Movie Studio and Video Pro X - the file doesn't load. SFACL4 is the upgrade from SFACL3, which works correctly with the video editors, and the upgrade from Music Editor 3. SFACL4 is supposed to work with the video editors.

Should I raise a ticket on these as well?

hi @browj2, thank you for explaining that (though it would be better to start a new thread about it)...no need to fill out a ticket, i'll see if it's already been reported and if not, i'll make a report for the issues--i honestly don't know how long it will take them to address those, but i'll definitely make sure that they are reported. thanks again!
