I burnt a DVD from a project created on mt Photo Story On DVD 2013 Deluxe many years ago. I have since lost this project. Is it possible to recover all the data from the DVD
. . . . .Is it possible to recover all the data from the DVD . . . .
Unfortunately not, it is the project file that contains the information about what video/image/audio clips were used, what editing was done to those clips, transitions, titles etc.
The DVD files contain none of this information.
Are there any backup files available? They will have a name and end with Name_BAKn.MP_ where name is the project name and n = 0 - 9
If you still have the source material, ie video clip, images, audio etc available it would be possible to reconstruct the DVD project.
Thank you John EB for your quick response. Fortunately I have just found an old memory stick with several backup's of this project. These are of different sizes suggesting that they were backed up at various stages of building the project. The largest size I presume is the final backup of the project. Could you please tell me, in the simplest, non tech terms, how to restore this backup? Which opens up another question. I created this project at the time before flat wide screen TV's became popular, so the standard 4.3 image format was used. If I now choose the wide screen 16.9 format to restore the backup files, will everything be adjusted automatically to suit?
Copy the latest file (largest) from the USB stick to a folder of your choice on the computer.
In Photostory, starting with an empty project, click File open
In the dialog that opens change the file type to All files see image below
Browse to the folder where the backup copy is and load it.
If the source video/images/audio are still in their original locations the project will load, if not you will be prompted to find the location of the files to be loaded.
Hi, I have followed your instructions almost successfuly but unfortunately the images etc didn't load in correct order, so now I have to load everything again. But with your help, I have acheived something. I can't thank you enough. Best wishes
