Hello support team. I am using Magix deluxe 24. I have a Canon camera producing cr3 files. Can I import them directly, or should I covert them to some other format. I am after quality. Best regards Terry Pritchard.
. . . . Hello support team. I am using Magix deluxe 24 . . . .
Please note the forum is not Magix Support, this is an open forum for users of Magix software to help each other with issue, how to's and other elated topics.
I assume you mean Photostory Deluxe 2024 - please quote the correct name of the program.
While CR2 files may import, I would suggest you convert the CR2 files, using the Canon software to get best results.
. . . . I am after quality . . . .
In this case I would suggest you use a non 'lossy' format such as BMP, however there are some factors that must be taken into account with respect to quality:
Depending on the export format and resolution you are going to use, the video may be encoded/compressed using a 'lossy' codec.
The colour space will be changed to that of the video standard used for encoding.
You may create unplayable video files if the advanced parameters are changed in the pursuit of best quality, the export presets in Photostory are optimised for best perceived quality vs file size.
I do not have any CR3 files to confirm whether they will import or not, have you tried importing one? If so, what error message do you get if it will not import?
The reason for using the Canon Digital Photo Professional software to convert the CR3 files is because you have more control over the resulting image, importing directly into PS would apply a standard 'conversion/adjustment'.
