Magix installs the VST plugins that come with Music Studio in the following folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins
and then the subfolder Magix.
As you can see below, I added a Third Party folder for other VST's and copied them there, each with its own folder. But, you can locate them elsewhere.
Normally by default, Music Studio will scan the VST folder during startup and will find all of the VST's located below that folder. To tell Music Studio where the VST's are located, press P or go to File, Program preferences, System/Audio and open the page shown in the image below. Add the location or your VST's. Music Studio will remember multiple locations, it just won't show them to you.
Thanks for this. Having the same problem with Samplitude Music Studio (2013) Have purchased Eventide Utra Reverb which cannot be detected by Magix. Have checked directory as you mentioned but there is no VSTPlugins folder in my Program Files directory. Please advise - tks!
Check also in C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins\MAGIX. Since you installed Samplitude Music Studio 2013 which is a 64bit version, this is where you will find the VST's. I have them in both locations as I have other versions, including Music Studio (32bit I think) and Music Maker which were not 64bit programs.
Thank you for your input, I've done exactly what you have shown me to do, but I can't seem to figuree out how to access any of the plugins. Some of them are effects and some are software instruments, but absolutely none of them show up in any dierectory of plugins or track options or instruments. Is there something I'm supposed to do to enable the software to access them? I mean, they can't ALL be unusable by this software. There are LOTS of plugins, but I can't access any of them.
Tks John, checked both directories Program Files & Program Files (x86) but no such thing as VST Plug-in folders.
Strange thing is however that the dll-file does show in the Samplitude folder.
OK. I think I figured it out. I have a 64 bit computer, so I had downloaded the 64-bit plugins, but the 32 bit plugins seem to be the ones that work with Magix products. Now that I've pulled all the hair out of my head trying to figure this out, I hope it grows back.
I just noticed that I must have installed the 32bit version of Samplitude Music Studio as it does not show up under Program Files. I vaguely recall that there was some issue back then of some VST"s not working with the 64bit version. Thus I did not run into the same problem, However, I have all of the VST's installed for 32 and 64 bit programs. The only Magix program I have under 64bits is Video Pro 6, and it can access the VST's with no problems.
