I've downloaded the VITA components but that clearly is not the 12GB library for Independence.

What say ye Magix????

Hi,

This is a user forum. No one here works for Magix.

I had the same problem and the answer was not obvious. I told them that they should make it obvious, but obviously obvious is not in their dictionary. Here is the reply and I successfully downloaded and installed all after a few emails.

First you must download the content for the program. This you can do from the help menu, download synthesizers and sound packages.

Second step is when you first open Independence it will then ask you to download the libraries. If you are running security software such as Anti-Virus it may be possible this would block the process. In such a case a reinstall from scratch would be needed with the security software disabled.

The hard part was to find out how to open Independence. I found it after a lot of sweat, but here is the answer that Magix gave me:

It should be installed in the midi output section on a channel. It will not be in the audio plugins section.

So if you go to midi out in the program and select a new instrument this should be an option.

Lastly they said:

I do agree with you and have asked for a simpler way for Independence content to load. Perhaps from the main downloads might make it more clear. Hopefully in the future this can be implemented.

AH, thanks for the info on downloading the Independence content. I've successfully found and downloaded it. I really enjoy Samplitude and Independence. I already own and use ProTools, and Digital Performer in my MAC based studio but there's something about the workflow in Samplitude that I really like.

Thanks again for your help. Too bad Magix doesn't have better (or any)  install/download instructions.

Oh, one more question for you all:

How do I back up the install files for all of this? I'm planning on replacing my Windows laptop soon and I don't want to have to downlkoad all of this again. Any thoughts?

I would also add that Samplitude defaults to the Easy workspace. At my screen resolution, the MIDI options were hidden. They are located beneath the Track Editor by default, so you would need to collapse the Track Editor or switch to another workspace such as Standard.
