I think I've lost my magix music maker 16 arrangement.

First of all, I want to apologize about my language mistakes (I'm not native) and say that I apreciate a lot all information and help that I got from you. It was very very useful for me. Now I have a really big issue. After an error, my programm crashed and when I opened it, after that, it appeared to me a window through I could restore the arrangement that I had made. I closed the window by accident, and after that I reset my computer (now I realize that I've been silly). Whatever.. The biggest problem now is the fact that I cannot upload my project (it gives me the error: ,,the file format... cannot be read by.."). I've also found a MM_ file extension, but I did not recover ALL the project. Is it possible to restore my arrangement as I would have done if I had used the restore window that had appeared firstly? Please help meeeeeee. I'm desperated. I had worked a looot. My biggest wish is to be as is was first of this disaster. What was changed to the arrangement that it gives me that error with the file format?  The extension of the original project (not that with MM_) is MMM!!! I cannot understand. What is more, the original project (with MMM) has 403 kb and that one with MM_ 1.147 kb. I don't know where does this differenece come from, because in the MM_ back-up copy I don't have all the tracks that supposed to be saved even though I saved them before magix crashed.

Hi,

Note: when file is moved or folder location is changed then you will get error.

MMM is a Music Maker Project file extension.

BAK is a backup file.

No problem there is still one possibility.

Normally Music maker save Bak (bakup file) try this.

Open Music Maker

Click File/Load arrangement

A window will be opened

Look at right down,

File name and on right Arrangements (*MMM)

Refer screen shot below

Click on All Files

Then you will find your Project you need with BAK extension. Click on it and it will open your lost project.

Note: when file is moved or folder location is changed then you will get error.

If need help send message.

Thank you

nihon94

Additional Note: If you are lucky and you can find BAK (backup) open it and Save as again, by doing this it will save project and you can later open easily.

Hi,

MM_ is the extension name of the automatic backup made by MMM.

http://www.magix.info/fr/how-do-i-find-an-overwritten-file.knowledge.302009.html

Shortcut : Alt Y to load an automatic backup.

Thank you very much for your responses. Nihon94, the only thing I can find is a file with MM_ extension (_BAKO.MM_). Is it the same with the BAK extension? I ask you this because it loads the project, but not with all the tracks that I've saved before. (I didn't change any location). Thank you

Hi,

Ok, no problem. Click on My computer then locate your Main drive where Program files are it should be C:, then there could be D or E drive depends on Partition on computer also CD or DVD drive.

You just have to double click on C Drive Icon refer image below(my system is in Japanese)

I got windows vista here is screen shot in Xp could be different.

Then click on TOOLS/Folder Options(O)

Window will be opened click on VIEW then scroll down

and click round radio button where it says

Show all files and folders press OK

Then you can see Hidden files locate

Application Data or Program Data

depends vista or xp click on any Application Data or Program Data

then locate MAGIX folder

after that Click on Magix Music Maker 16 folder

if you use vista then click on Users Data or in case of XP try and see (I can not recall may be I can tell later)

if you use vista click on Crash folder you will find your backup here with file extension MMM
