I get a stop action effect when I import a Windows media file. Why is this?

The video plays fine in Windows movie maker but the stop action or dropped frames in Magix edit pro 12 is terrible. The audio is OK though. How can I correct this please?

Maybe you need to try a different video mode - open up the program settings (hit Y or P on keyboard) and under the "Display options" tab, under "Playback in arranger", try all the different video modes to see if one of them works better for you. Otherwise, if that doesn't help, what is the source of the WMV file? How many frames per second? Keep in mind, anything less than 25 frames per second isn't really suitable for framed based editing.
