I checked the "crop to fit screen box" when I started the project. Can I copy the existing slides to a new project with the box unchecked.

I have 673 slides and want to put them into a new project with different screen properties, i.e., 16:9 instead of 4:3 and without the "crop to fit screen" box checked. I know that I can do it manually from the media one slide at a time (673 out of 1075) but that is a chore. Can I just copy the slides or can I export the slides and import them into the new project?

Hi,

You didn't indicate which version that you are working with. I have 2013.

Are there any effects on the slides?

If not, save the project, then do a Save as and give it a new name. Voila, you now have your slides in a new project.

Press the letter E to open Project settings. Check the box beside Use 16:9.... Ok.

You project is now 16:9.

How does it look? You will now probably have black bars on each side of your image, as the original images were likely not 16:9.

If you want to get rid of them, then you will need to zoom in, which will cut off part of the top and bottom. The easiest way to do this is to change the height to 640 or whatever is the resolution of your project. Change the left position to 0, or click on Centre. The image will fill the screen.

If this is ok, the select all (Ctrl+A) and make the same change. All slides will be changed.

Now you can go through and adjust any vertically that are not satisfactory.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The slides are cut off on top and bottom. The problem seems to be in the crop to fit box on the initial screen. I ran tests with both 16:9 and 4:3 without the box checked and the slides were not cut off. Can I reverse this checked box in the project or do I have to start from scratch. I'm useing Deluxe 2014 on Windows 8.1

Try it. E uncheck 16:9.

Ctrl+A, Maximize, Centre (just in case).

How does it look?

BTW, if your TV is a widescreen, you will still end up with black bars on each side.

It still doesn't work. There is still a cut off at the top and bottom. I'll just rebuils the project one at a time. Thanks anyway.

Hi,

The format of the images is not the same as the screen, thus if you want to fill the screen from left to right, then something is always going to be cut off at the top or bottom or both.

If you want your entire image to appear, then it will fill from top to bottom and there will be blank space at the left and right.

You have to decide on what you want.

Remember, you can select many images and apply the same effect in one shot.

I suggest that you do some tests with only a dozen slides to determine what you want before embarking on the rebuild.

Thanks again for the reply. I did just what you said and then rebuit the show using 4:3 and no automatic cropping. I have the black lines but tha this OK as long as I see the entire image, which it now does. Thanks for the help. The case is now closed.
