I cannot import MP4's into Movies on DVD7

The only reason that I bought this software was to edit mp4's. Clearly says on the outside of the box that it supports mp4 input files. Each time I try I am denied. Other answers on this board to similar posts suggest that I need to activate the codec. In following those instructions, I am told that it costs an additional $4.99 for the code?

IS THIS TRUE?

If so, What a load of BS!

If no, can anyone tell me how I can get in mp4 files into the program and start editing?

Hi there,

That is true - the MPEG-4 codec activation in Movies on DVD 7, which you would need for actual MP4 files, is an optional feature and does require an additional paid-for activation. There's a footnote about this on the box as well. I guess you could try whether you can get the video imported after converting it to AVI using the following free tool:

http://mp4cam2avi.sourceforge.net

You need to have a suitable MPEG-4 DirectShow codec on your system for the import of the AVI file to work properly.
