I can't import media files

Izzy-Taylor wrote on 8/10/2022, 12:57 PM

When I try and upload a media file it says Warning: An error occurred while opening one or more files. The reason for the error could not be determined.

I have tried dragging and dropping files from my desktop but I get a red circle with a line through on my curser when I do this. I've contacted Windows to see if its an issue their end ( I thought maybe security) but they have confirmed its not a Windows issue.

@Izzy-Taylor

Hi and welcome to the forum.

. . . . I have tried dragging and dropping files from my desktop but I get a red circle with a line through on my curser  . . . .

Assuming you mean Desktop as in the Windows desktop then move the files into a folder within the default Video Pro X folder location which the Projects option is pointing to in the program settings Folder tab - by default this should be:

C:\Users\Username\Documents\MAGIX\Video Pro Xnn where nn= number suffix.

If you have second drive for data then move the files to a folder on the second drive.

Files should not be stored on the Desktop, there is a small chance that Windows or a Windows Update may reset the Desktop resulting in the loss all files that were put there. The Documents folder, which is where all your files should be stored, is a protected folder.

If the does not fix the issue then we need more information:

  • The video file format and encoding used - download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips that you cannot import and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

  • It would also help if put your computer specification, Windows version and program version number, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) your are working with if this is a laptop, in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it in the event that there is an issue with VPX settings and hardware.

  • Are the graphics card drivers up to date?

  • A screen shot of the Program settings, Display options or Device options tab may help.

Hi John,

Thank you for your help. I recorded the videos on OBS Studio and they were saved in the standard video file in my documents. I have changed the settings and added vegas pro to the list of apps that can open my files. the videos all have blue V's on them when you view them in the file but the same problem occurs when I try to add them on Vegas ( either through the import media drop down or by dragging and dropping ) . I will add the clip analyse below along with my computers information.

@Izzy-Taylor

Hi

Sorry to say you have posted in the wrong form, this is the forum for Magix Video Pro X a different product

Vegas products, with the exception of Magix Movie Studio 18 and later versions, have their own forum see the Important Posts here.

There should also be a link to the correct forum under Help in the program.

I would suggest you post your question there and give the above information.

This topic will be closed.
