@Rob-Chappell

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

As far as I am aware any user typing your site URL as www.handsuk.co.uk will automatically be served the secure (https) version, if your SSL certificate is correctly placed in the root directory of your site. IOW, you do not need to worry about creating any redirection "manually".

(I don't use Web Designer Premium but for my own site all I had to do was to ensure the certificate was placed in the root directory then anyone typing the URL, without or with the "s" - or indeed, with or without the "www." - is automatically served the secure site.)

@Rob-Chappell

Hi

The www. . . . . URL will provide a non https page unless you set your site to deliver the https version for all methods of access eg http://, www. and no prefix ie handsuk.co.uk.

I have used IONOS (previously 1&1 in the UK) for over 20 years, and they have a lot of very useful Help topics, the relevant one for you is this.

Hi John Thank you for your help - I have looked at this information and followed the information however as soon as I add a .htaccess file and the code I get a forbidden message to the website - do you know what I am doing wrong?

@Rob-Chappell

Hi

. . . . I get a forbidden message to the website . . . .

Assuming you mean you are getting a 403 error Forbidden access - then there are 2 possibilities:

  1. The site access has not been set up correctly, however-

    As I can access the secure website correctly using
    https://handsuk.co.uk
  2. There is a typo in the .htaccess file - check it very carefully and that you have entered the domain name correctly - try the name as shown below - note there is no www.
    https://handsuk.co.uk
