How to play movie from the middle

sharla20 wrote on 8/13/2010, 3:02 PM

The movie I'm making is pretty long and when I move the playback marker to see a certain scene in the movie, it starts it from the beginning every single time I push play. I think it has something to do with the range marker things but I don't know how to make it stop playing from the beginning every time. Help me please!!

Hi there! You sound like you know what you're doing with this stuff so I hope you can help me out! I just have movie edit pro 16

Hi,

I'm working from PRO 15, and hope this advice applies OK to PRO 16.

In the task bar at the top select FILE. From the drop down menu select SETTINGS. From the sub-menu select PROGRAM. A menu will open with around 6 tabs at the top. Select PLAYBACK. A panel appears - PROGRAM SETTINGS. Search on the right hand side of this display to locate SPACEBAR BEHAVIOUR. Click on the box next to this to select SPACEBAR STOPS AT CURRENT PLAYBACK POSITION. This instructs the program to stop the cursor at the selected position and not to return to the beginning of the video clip. Hope this is of help.

I'm using Pro 16 as well....if the SPACEBAR STOPES AT CURRENT PLAYBACK POSITION is already checked, then look at the range markers.....you're probably missing the end marker.

Using the buttons and keyboard shortcuts (I and O) usually won't work.

SAVE YOUR CURRENT PROJECT WITH A DIFFERENT NAME BEFORE TRYING THIS.

Go to Edit>Cut>Split Movie....that will get the range marker back.

Then click on the "Change Current Movie" arrow (looks like a movie film reel above the edit tracks), and switch to the new split movie.  all the edit tracks should be blank.  now go to File>Manage Movies>Remove from project   to get rid of the blank movie.  that's it!  your space bar should work correctly now.
