Sorry I don't have PhotoStory but, common to other Magix video programs, material from DVDs has to be first copied to your hard drive (there is usually a prompt for this), next the resultant files (which are audio and video combined) are brought into the editing time line, and then simply delete the video and select the parts of the audio track you want to use.
