How long before a FTP webiste goes live after uploading.

Hi guys

Can anyone advise on how long it takes before a FTP website goes live after uploading the files.

Am getting somewhat frustrated now as have been waiting almost 48 hours!!...

File integrity is correct and the index.html file sits snuggly in the root folder.

Patiently awaiting advise.

Thanks..........................................

Hi

The site should be live almost immediately after uploading.  The only time you would get a significant delay is after you have just routed a domain name to the site, though this should not take more than 24 hours.

What are you seeing when you try to browse to the site - a blank page, a 404 error or some other error message?

Can you post a link to the site?

John

John

Thanks for your reply which kind of confirmed what I believed to be the case.  Site address is

www.narrowboatinsuranceuk.com

However I am still getting the standard Magix new site under construction message.

Am now rather confused as to what the problem is or could be.

The new site was created in Muse and Dreamweaver and published from there built in Publish menu.  I can see the file structure has landed server side and note the index.htm file is within a folder.  I am today going to try and move the index.htm file into the root menue for this site.  As this is the only thing that I can see is different from my other projects all of which have been published using Magix/Xara software.

I do recall a slight delay previously on the first publishing but never this long before.

Cheers

Steve

Hi

You are working now.

I assume you moved the index file to the root of the webspace.

Cheers
