how do you record in stereo using sampllitude 11 i arm stereo but only get one side

It all depends on your recording source, microphones are generally mono and record on one channel only, for this and other mono sources, you can compensate by duplicating the recorded audio channel (usually Left) to the other channel and then use the balance setting to position the source on the stage.

With the recording track selected, do Alt+I to get the Track info screen. Try setting the Audio Record Options to Mono (Mix). This worked for me using a mic connected to the computer. It recorded only to one channel of the track until I changed the option to Mono (Mix).
