Hi everyone and HELP! Please HELP me If you are able.

"I'm an American and a total computer idiot as well. How are you suppose to load software with just a DVD player? I've never even seen one, single, solitary computer "IN MY LIFE" that only plays DVD's!  They're all as mentioned above,....CD/DVD RW's.. I've got Windows XP and never run into this. Did I get screwed on this one? It's okay. Be honest. I can take it." lol

If you have a version of MAGIX Music Maker that is a DVD (you didn't bother to say what version you have), you need a drive on your computer capable of playing a DVD.

Many older Window XP computers only came with a CD-ROM drive.

Unfortunately, you're just babbling, so we really don't know what problem you're having.

Also, please refrain from invoking the name of a deity.  Some people may not appreciate that.

DVD drive will read a DVD disc.

CD-ROM only drive will will not

A combined CD-ROM / DVD RW means it reads and writes both formats,

I suspect you don't have a DVD reader or Writer in your PC, they are filthy cheap, about £15 something like the same in dollars.

Power down, open the case

disconnect two cables

slide it out, slide in new one and re-boot - it works, just like that.

If you are buying one - take old one to the store for the same cable-pin outs (ie IDE or SATA)

You almost 100% will need an IDE drive - you can also buy them 2nsd hand for peanuts.

As for using the Deity's name - we Brits aren't so sensitive, we just help people, also Darwin was right, take that Kansas! hehe.

Merry Xmas.

If your drive is connected by the same cable asthe hard drive you will have to change the jumper on the DVD drive to make it a slave.  Plenty of instructions on the Internet.

Don't bother buying 2nd hand new drives are so cheap especially in the US.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Mainly true, true, possibly.  But it is a fact that these sort of remarks/Brit sense of humour may not be appreciated by everyone.  Therefore are best left out of posts.
