How do you get the best quality or HD look after burning a dvd ?

Why is it when i burn a dvd the quailty isn't as good as it was on the computer. I want my HD videos to look like HD on the burned dvd. You see too many pixels on the finished dvd as well. In Burn mode under Encoder my Quality is set for 11, should it be set for maxiuim quality or is there something else i should do as well? I am useing Magix movie editor 14 for this.   Any help would be apprieated!

A DVD for use in a DVD player has no HD format.
It has 720 X 480 (NTSC ) or 768 X 576 (PAL) only.


If you want real HD you need a blue-ray disk and equipment.

If you want to get a little bit better DVD you can increase the bit rate to a higher value.

 Trajan's right that a standard DVD has fixed pixel dimensions, but you can alter the quality -- always have the 'Quality' slider set to the max. DVD players vary somewhat in how high a bit rate they can play back. Best experiment and see. If you have a long movie there will also be a limit to the bitrate that will fit on one DVD.

Hi there, I'm new to this but here goes. I've got exactly the same problem as ravenger24.
I've used Movie Edit Pro for about 5 years now in various editions. I'm currently using Movie Edit pro 15Plus and have also gone to the expense of purchaing a new, all singing, all dancing Dell Studio XPS in order to burn HiDef movies.
I'm getting very poor quality burned DVD's, even at the highest quality burn. In fact, the quality is worse than with my old non-HD movie camera and very old, slow pc.
I've also exported a burned movie in mpeg2 to DVD. This plays in great quality on my pc, but it won't play on my blue-ray player.
There must be a way of getting better quality - do I need to upgrade to  EditPro 16Plus????

Quite a few of the Magix folk (customers not staff) that use the 'User forum' are  using media players to enjoy their HD material on HD TVs rather than investing in more expensive blu-ray kits. Some players lack any ability to use DVD type menues but they do play HD material from any attached storage device (USB drives or memory sticks) including networked computers.
