How do I set the maximum frame size & burn settings for Pro X6

Magix Video Pro X6

I have a project with the movie - video settings set at 1920x1080 25fps. However when I go to burn disk, then from the pop up DVD burning box I select encoder settings, then advanced, then video setting, basic settings - the resolution is set at a maximum of 720x576 and there does not seem to be a way to change this.

My questions are how do I change the burn setting to match 1920x1080 ? is this possible ?

I am trying to get maximum definition for a quality picture

Thanks

Bob

Hi

If you are burning a DVD then the max resolution is 720 x 576 (PAL) or 720 x 480 (NTSC).

If you want to play on an HD TV slect the appropriate DVD preset and then increase the bitrate to the maximum, leave all other settings alone they are optimised for the preset format used and you can quickly reduce the video quality by altering the advanced settings.

MEP will complain if it cannot fit the movie on the disc, if it does then click the auto adjust option.

If you want 1920 x 1080 then you have to burn Blu-Ray format - you will need a BD burner and player.

You can burn BD to a DVD disc providing the movie is no longer than 20 - 25 mins - you do still need a BD player.

Note you cannot burn DVD to BD disc.

Bob, you have just come up against one of the "features/standards" of DVDs that causes more heartache than almost anything!  By definition, a DVD can only ever be Standard Definition which, for PAL output (I assume, since you say 25fps you are in PAL-land)  is 720x576.  It is NOT possible, despite many peoples' belief otherwise, to have High Definition output from a DVD.

I assume, on the first burn screen, under presets, you are selectin "Standard PAL Widescreen", since your footage is clearly widescreen?

Hi

It is NOT possible, despite many peoples' belief otherwise, to have High Definition output from a DVD.

Just to make this clear - the DVD format can only ever be Standard Definition but a DVD disc can be written with AVCHD 1920x1080 Bluray format files with a standard computer DVD burner, but it must be played back on a Bluray player. MEP or VPX can do this for a max. playing time of around 30mins.
