How do I obtain different MIDI "Instruments" or sounds? [Music Maker 16]

I've been playing around with the MIDI editor ever since I purchased MM16 (Two days ago). Been making my own loops and all, but the souns is almost always the same. The program came with some built in sounds. But none of them help out since I'm trying to create a more "Ambient" sound with them. I was wondering if there is a way or some website where I can obtain different sounds or "instruments" to use in MIDI editor?

I have the Basic version of MM16. The only MIDI track based Synth that appears in Vita, others that I have on there are Atmos, Vandal SE Essential FX LiViD, Robota & BeatBox 2.

Hi,

There is embeded synthe like VITA or REVOLTA which use MIDI. They provide a lot of instruments. With their control panel you can modify the type of sound and create/save your own instrument.

If you have the Premium version of MMM, you can import VST. There is a lot of sites where you can find free VST. By example, on Audiofanzine, every week they provide links to free VST.

What version of MM-16 are you using? Basic or Premium?

Are all of the synths loaded? What synths do you have showing in the Synth tab?

That sounds like all of the synths you should have with the Basic version.

Upgrading to the Premium version will not only give you the Revolta synth, an upgraded Beatbox 2 Plus, Mastering Suite and many additional instruments in Vita, but many more soundpool objects and styles. You would also then be able to install any number of third-party VST instruments and effects. It's well worth the extra investment.

For example, in MM-15 the Revolta synthesizer has this group of presets...

Ambient Synths (17 Presets)
Bass (20 Presets)
Classic Synth's and Stuff (10 Presets)
FX (7 Presets)
Pads (25 Presets)
Sequences (9 Presets)
Techno Trance House (10 Presets)

Of course, being a fairly versatile virtual analog synthesizer, in Revolta you can alter any of the presets or create your own. Adding other synth plug-ins will add even more versatility.

Someone else will need to tell you if MM-16 has something different to offer.
