How do I get the best playback quality from my finished Photostory 9 DVD disk on my TV?

I have noticed that photo slides playback quality from my Apple laptop ( using Apple slideshow maker) hooked directly to my TV are much better quality than the same photo slides produced  on a Photostory 9 disk program. Is this a natural phenomenon because of direct connection vs using a disk? I am using a DVD disk for a 140 slide program to a high quality 46 inch TV. I wonder whether I am using tha wrong settings in the Photostory burn mode. I am choosing  the DVD setting and not interested in buying a Blue ray disk. Could someone advise or should I simply use the laptop as the quality differences are quite significant?

Hi

This is probably an upscaling issue.

DVD resolution is 720 * 576, your TV (HD?) will probably be 1920*1080.  The laptop will be outputting at a higher resolution then the DVD.

You may improve the quality on DVD by increasing the bitrate in the burn settings to maximum and adjust if Photostory complains the movie will not fit on disc.

The only sure fire way to get maximum quality is BD.

Hi

A lot depends on the resolution of the TV.

If the TV is 1920*1080 then what you are seeing from the laptop will be the same for BD providing the BD player is of good quality and connected by HDMI to the TV.

John,

Can I load my slideshow to an Ipad then send it wireless to the tv using the new Apple TV box? What settings might I use, if so, from the Photostory 9 slideshow, to the ipad, etc. Would you suggest this or simply stick to a Blue ray burner?
