How do I get Samplitude Music Studio 2013 to read the proper VST folder & ONLY that one?

bamim2 wrote on 8/24/2013, 10:32 AM

I have just downloaded & installed Samplitude Musica Studio 2013 to test before buying (so I can't get support from Magix) & everything seems to work well, except that even though I've chosen C:\VSTPlugIns\ as my VST folder (which it is), when Samplitude reads that folder, it ALSO goes off to C:\Program Files\.... & starts reading that folder & that gets an error & locks up the app. I then have to go into Tast Manager (I'm running Windows XP) & kill Samplitude which means that I lose everything I WAS doing & next time I start the program I have to basically start over.

How do I get SMS2013 to read the proper VST folder & ONLY that one?

THANK YOU for your help!

Hi,

Samplitude only supports the following Windows Os

Supported OS

    Microsoft® Windows® 7 (32-Bit and 64-Bit)
    Microsoft® Windows® Vista® (32-Bit and 64-Bit)
    Microsoft® Windows® XP (32-Bit)

If you have XP (64-bit) you are likely to have problems.

I am thinking about getting Samplitude 2013  and it said that it also runs with Windows 8 (which is whatI am running)

I currently have MMM Premium 2013.

Thanks,

Trish

Hi

Check that the folder SMS is trying to read actually exists and you can create and delete a file in it.

If it does exist and you cannot create a file and delete it then the folders permissions may be set wrong, compare the permissions with the same folder for MMM2013.

If the folder exists and you can create a file and delete it then try resetting Samplitudes settings to default - should be under File, Settings

Thanks to those who answered & I'm glad the person who's running W8 found out BEFORE she bought SMS2013 that it won't work for her.

The OS I'm using this on is Windows XP 32-bit. - Thanks.

The permissions in my VSTPlugIns folder are fine. I've been using it with MANY other DAW for many years now & this is the ONLY time I've had this issue. - Thanks.

I do appreciate the suggestions. One never knows what might help etc.

I do agree. One of my Engineering Profs used to tell us the same thing all time:

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask. - THANKS!

Other suggestions are also welcome. None of these have fixed my problem. I MAY just try removing & reinstalling, but that's a lot of work.

Hi

@ George

Sorry to disagree  - the spec includes Windows 8 see here.

@ bamim2

. . . . I'm glad the person who's running W8 found out BEFORE she bought SMS2013 that it won't work for her. . . .

Where does the person say that? If you are referring to marshallt2's post, nowhere do they say this.

. . . . removing & reinstalling, but that's a lot of work. . . . .

Only if you do not use the Magix cleanup tool in between uninstalling and reinstalling - if you do not use it then you will very likely be back to where you are now.

Thank you for clarifying those things.

I DID already purchase SMS2013 and it is running successfully with Windows 8 (as it stated it would).  I just need to read the manual a bit more,  but it IS working.

Thanks,
