How do I get playback to run smoothly?

I recently purchased Magix Movie Edit Pro 12 and installed it on my computer. However, when I drag clips into my projects, and then attempt to play them back, the playback is jumpy and choppy. I've played with a lot of the settings and even tried turning the resolution down to the lowest setting and it still is about the same. I have more than the system requirements and Windows Movie Maker always ran my clips with extreme smoothness,

Doing editing with this shotty of playback is downright impossible

HOWEVER, MVX clips including when I save my normal WMV's and such to a MVX format! so is it something to do with WMV's and AVI's?

You could try turning off the cache - go into program settings and click the "no cache" option under playback. That sometimes helps. Otherwise, you could email tech support and maybe they could get to the bottom of it.
