How do I enable 5.1 in Music Maker Premium 2022?

Gary-Jones wrote on 1/29/2022, 3:27 AM

On page 53 of the Magix Music Maker (MMM) 2022 manual it states;

"Mastering: Opens the MAGIX Mastering Suite (⇗127).
5.1 Surround: This button switches the mixer to Surround Mode (⇗177).
These two buttons are only visible if the corresponding functions have been activated."

I can see the "Mastering Suite" button which I assume is what is being referred to but not the "5.1 Surround" button.

Can someone please tell me how I activate the "corresponding function"?

I have been using an older version of MMM (2013) and have used 5.1 successfully for years but I just can't see any setting to turn 5.1 on.

Thanks.

Details;

Using MMM Premium version 30.0.4.44

Sound card Sound Blaster Z with latest driver 6.0.102.75

Rest of Windows 10 PC is way above minimum spec requirements

@Gary-Jones

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

I don't have or use 5.1 so this was an interesting challenge to pursue! The "answer" is to be found on the mixer panel, Master section. See the screenshot below:

Hi Jeff. That's the issue I want help with - the button you refer to doesn't appear on the mixer for me (see my screen capture)?

Looking in the features part of the shop I can see 5.1 Surround Mix. It costs £8.99.

@Gary-Jones

Unfortunately I don't see any screen capture from you. You can attach it by clicking the up arrow in the blue circle in the header of the box you type any reply.

@Graham-Hawker if Gary has the full Premium edition that add-on should be included automatically. So, @Gary-Jones are you certain you have the Premium Edition installed? Does the opening splash screen confirm that you are actually running MEP Premium 2022? This information should appear once the app has logged you in and confirmed the status of your licence.

@Gary-Jones

Hi,

Version 30.x.x.x is for the program. Which Premium Edition do you have? See the Welcome screen at the right below where it shows your email address.

Also, under the Store tab, Features, do you see the icon for 5.1 Surround Mix. Is there a price with it or kind of an asterisk indicating that you already have it?

Do you have anything under the Downloads tab left to download and install?

@Graham-Hawker @emmrecs

Strangely, under the Comparison chart on Magix.com, I don't see Surround Sound indicated.

I can see it at the top of the post.

if Gary has the full Premium edition that add-on should be included automatically.

I've looked at the Music Maker pages and there's no mention of 5.1 surround.

Thank you all for your replies - much appreciated.

@emmrecs - definitely have the Premium 2022 edition - please see the attached screen shot

@browj2 - I have Premium 2022 . The store is showing I have to purchase 5.1 Surround Mix which is surprising as premium 2013 from which I upgraded had 5.1 included? There is nothing in my downloads tab unfortunately.

@Graham-Hawker - I fear you may have found the solution but if I have to pay more for 5.1 I won't be impressed.

I have raised a ticket with support to confirm if indeed the issue is because I don't have the 5.1 add-on installed and await their response.

Thanks again all for your help.

@Gary-Jones

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the info.

As I indicated, Surround Sound does not show up on the comparison table. I have it, but it could have come with one of the many purchases of Premium Editions that I have done over the years. The program keeps track of them and unlocks them in new versions. However, that only works for about the last 5-7 years or so.

It will be interesting to hear what Magix says.

Hi everyone - I have the exact same issue - I have MMM Premium Edition 2022 - I just bought a 5.1 sound card and cannot find any way to get the surround sound button to appear in the mixer - How can this get fixed. I too will be disappointed if I have to buy what should already be included in my program. - Someone Please Assist and advise the solution

Hi

The Surround Sound plugin does come with MMM 2022 Premium, however only the WAV export supports Surround Sound, other formats available for export are mono/stereo only and Dolby Surround Sound - AC3 encoding is not available.

MMM 2022 v30.0.4.44 does export to Surround Sound, however the Mixer master pane does not change to Surround Sound configuration, ie 6 channels and the Spatial display.

Thank you for your reply John. I also got a reply from Support stating - "I'm afraid I have to confirm that the surround support is *not* part of the 2022 Premium edition. It's a feature needed by few users and thus an optional add-on feature pack that you can obtained via the "Features" section of the in-app store as "5.1 Surround Mix"." I guess I need to buy the plugin from the Features in store selection.

James-Schousen wrote on 4/15/2022, 11:18 AM

Hi again - I purchased the Surround Sound feature and now am getting various multiple errors when trying to use it. Let me start with asking what are the correct settings in MMM 2022 Premium Edition for Surround Sound? please see attached my current setting and error message that appears when I try to play my test project.

Hi @Gary-Jones sorry for my english, in the Mixer panel You find a kind of vertical menu, on the far left of the screen, with very small writing, you have to click "PAN". Basically, the horizontal menu of the Mixer is made up of a series of drop-down submenus. If you wish, I made a very short video for you where I show you how to get to the "5.1 Surround" editor:
Best Regards
