I'm starting a new video and I want to fade to an image from a black screen. I have found the toggle that allows me to do this... but I seem to have only 1 choice in fade types. I want to know how to change the type of fade.
Assuming you are using Magix Movie Studio and not Vegas movie Studio.
There is only one type of 'Fade In', however you can use almost any transition to start from black and bring in/up the image as shown below - you will not have some of the transitions in the video clip - they are my own custom transitions.
As you can see from the timeline image below if the image/video object is not the first object in the timeline then you need either a gap, or a black image inserting between objects.
Regarding the fades, I'd like to change the fade type for the audio. Instead of having the fade out as a straight line in Movie Studio 2025 Suite, I'd like a curb, like this one that I made in Movie Studio 15:
You can use the Curve tool to manually draw in your fade out or record the fader movement in the mixer to automate the fade. Any mistakes can be drawn over.
To get the same adjustment curves you were previously used to you would have to upgrade to Video Pro X which additionally has similar sets of curves to choose from as well as the methods listed above.
Further to my previous comment re Bezier adjustment for the audio keyframing, VPX does indeed have the capability of adjusting the type of curve action, depite the missing 'option' I previoulsy posted.
Right clicking Volume keyframes gives you a 'hidden menu' as shown below
