how can I use a sample in the midi format (created before in a MMM 16 project) in another project? How can I actually transfer it so that I can preserve all the settings that I've made?
I've created a sample in the piano roll, using a VST (that I had been given by a firend). I want to use it in another project, but not to be exported in wav or mp3. I want to keep all the characteristics that I've set.
First of all, were any of the answers given for your previous list of questions of any use to you? Some kind of response would be appreciated.
---------------------
Open the Instrument Editor, either from the MIDI object menu in the arranger or at the bottom of the instrument pull-down menu in the Vita MIDI Editor. Make your adjustments. Click on the Plugin menu and click on "Patch save...". Name the file and save. The VSTi patch settings are saved with a ".fxp" file extension.
Then, in the Vita MIDI Editor, go to ... File (menu) > Export MIDI... (CTRL+E)
Find the location where you want to store the MIDI file, name it and save it. I suggest saving it in a dedicated project folder. The MIDI file is saved with the ".mid" file extension.
----------------------
In a different arrangement, find the MIDI file (.mid) in the File Manager, then "drag and drop" it into a track in the arranger. Unfortunately, the VST instrument and patch settings are not transferred with the MIDI file.
First choose your VST instrument from the arranger or in Vita. Once again, go into the Instrument Editor, click on the Plugin menu and click on "Patch load...". Find the patch file (.fxp) you want and load it.
That will give you the same MIDI object in the same instrument with the same settings. All of the other VST instruments I have also have the "Patch save.." and "Patch load..." options.
If you intend to use the same MIDI file and patch settings your friend created, he/she will have to send you both the .mid and .fxp files.
