Hi,

I don't have PhotoStory but I seriously doubt it has that facility. Movie Edit Pro certainly doesn't. But why not simply sort the photos in Explorer before importing them?

Terry,

Thanks for the answer.  That indeed may be what I need to do.  I often get photos from multiple sources and I use MAGIX Photo Manager to create an album (kind of a virtual folder) which I then import into PhotoStory.  I don't believe either Photo Manager or Photo Story has the ability to sort by creation data.  I don't understand why programs with so many features don't provide the ability to sort, either sort an album before importing or sort after importing into Photo Story.  I really don't want to take the time to get all the photos into a single folder and sort them that way.  In fact, I think I tried that before and the sort didn't hold when the photos were imported.

Oh well.  Thank you for the anwer.

Robert

Hi Robert,

If PhotoStory is like MEP in this respect, then the sequence of photos will be the same as the selected photos dragged in, providing you're careful to drag the first one selected.

Getting them into creation date first is another subject. I always use EXIF data where possible to automatically rename photos by prefixing with yyyymmdd-hhmmss. So if had a photo taken at around 2.36 pm on 5th July in Brighton last year, it would get a name like 20120705-143601-Brighton.jpg. They would then be easy to sort into creation order in an Explorer folder. And after dragging onto my MEP timeline they would retain that order.

But however I've named them, they will still retaiin the order in which they were arranged.

Terry,

Thanks again!  I like your idea about naming conventions.

Hi

Try this:-

In the media pool click the Display options icon (top right) and set this to Details.

You should now see the Date recorded (or something similar) column, click the name of the column to sort by date ascending or descending as you require,

If you switch back to Large icons - they should now be sorted in date order - if not you will have to stay in Details view.

@ Terry  This works in MEP

John

Hi John,

You're right, I'd forgotten about Detail view. Partly because I normally drag in directly from an Explorer folder. But also because when I tried it for a while some years ago I found it flawed, as shown here:

Hi

@ Terry

We are going slightly off topic with this, however it is relevant to the question put by wevodaur.

My mov files show the same as yours - no recording date so they cannot be sorted.
